Music Maker workshop - The Camp
SUCCESS!!! We are happy to report that our first prototype workshop with the children went so well it left us with goosebumps. The children enjoyed every minute of it, from the icebreaker introduction activity to playing together in harmony as a mobile orchestra. The amount of energy and activity brought by the children left us “phew” a bit tired but excited about the results. We also received positive feedback from the animators/facilitators of the Discovery Day Program, but the most important was the children’s feedback. They relished every minute of the workshop and wanted to keep the instruments they made. This made us really want to take a minute to appreciate all the waste material we think is garbage, but if transformed into something else, can suddenly be an object of value.
As a team we are now aware more of the children’s want and needs. While planning the workshop, we had our doubts, and we even seconded guessed some of our ideas thinking they would not be received well, but man were we mistaken! So now at least we know that, there is no harm in trying things out, even though it might appear too simplistic and boring, you never know how it will be received on the other end if you do not test it out.
We still need to test how our own toolkit box concept, designed to facilitate workshops would be received. The user experience is very important for us, besides the results we want to achieve by implementing this cultural exchange toolkit.
